My goal for today was to beat my previous 5k PR of 19:59. I took off with the front group of runners (which included a lot of high school cross country kids) and hit the first mile at 6:04. After that, things started to slow down, with more grinding uphills. I hit mile two at 12:40, which was considerably slower, but still on pace. The last mile was tough, with a direct headwind and several tough hills. Pushed it at the end to come in at 19:57, two seconds ahead of my previous PR for this distance. Thought I might luck out and get an age group win, but there were a couple 30 somethings ahead of me, one of which was the second place overall. The race was actually won by a 15 year old.

Beat my PR, and considering that my previous PR had been on a very flat course, I have to be happy with this result.
