The thread on gendercide reminded me of an article I read earlier but I didn't want to post it in that threat so as to not trivialize Possum's situation...

Anyway, this article had be laughing because if I took it serious I would snap and start hurting people.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,176375,00.html

The best line was the lawyer saying that she shouldn't be in jail because "To place an attractive young woman in that kind of hell hole is like putting a piece of raw meat in with the lions."

So now if you're good looking you shouldn't have to go to jail?!?! I wonder if the lawyer would say the same thing if some dashing 22-year-old man groped his little girl? Idiotic on a galactic scale, in the very least I hope the Judge's reasoning behind not giving her jail time wasn't the same an the lawyers.

WTF!?!?!?????

time to pull out the DVD Fallen (or is it Falling Down) and watch Michael Douglas give his 0.02 on 'the system'

I love that movie. Especially the fast food scene. I'm gonna watch it again.

I thought the best part of the article was that they "got to know each other on their way back from a class trip to SeaWorld".

aw that's sweet, Brett, but really, in the big picture, my situation is trivial and doesn;t need to dominate a thread that initially had nada to do with me, was not started by me, and was subsequently hijacked by me, in that way that is so totally annoying to BT users who are jjst having fun.

Bottom line? that woman ... ugh, what can you say? Adults who do not have control over the way their animal urges affect others should be kept in cages.
so there.
(now if she had a baby she couldn;t raise, and it were a girl, and she wanted to kill it.... well head back to don's thread)

I do what I can ;-) In general I just thought this topic was a bit more sarcastic and light-hearted than gendercide as a whole.

Now I'm going to watch Falling Down again.

Brett, please try not to expect too much from criminal defense lawyers.

The guy's just doing his job. If you don't like her sentence, you should channel your energies to the DA that accepted the plea.

So is a pimp.

I don't fault the plea agreement as I don't really know the relevant facts of the case. I do maintain that criminal defense counsel are the absolute scum of the Earth.

So you don't like that people accused of crimes are allowed representation?

They are unquestionably entitled to representation. No question at all. In my experience (both in life and as an attorney), criminal defense attracts the least ethical and least qualified lawyers.

I do recognize the fine line criminal defense counsel walks between vigorous representation and questionable ethics. My personal opinion is that far too many come down on the side of questionable ethics.

least qualified? i think thats a bit over the top. there are a TON of great and super qualified defense lawyers. basic economics can show us this. work for the government and get a smaller check and an introverts sense of accomplishment or be a defense lawyer and get a bigger check.

Never mind whether you're a prosecutor, are you my stepfather going by an alias?

Oh yes, dinner-table conversations at la casa familia are um, eventful.
