Pre-race routine:

2nd race of the day!
Event warmup:

Went to Epcot to get Liz(ChipmunkHeart)'s race packet. Turns out packet pick-up was moved to the race start. We head that direction and get caught in some HORRIBLE traffic. Parked after the race was supposed to have started but it wasn't a timed race so we thought we'd try to race anyway. Haley(TriComet) and Jess(Tri Take Me Away) changed into their Donald and Daisy Duck costumes in the parking lot and that's when we the high point of maturity for the day. After some inappropriate picture taking we found out the race had been delayed and we were just in time for the start. Chippy got her packet and we were off!

Comments:

I had on my Texas flag shorts and tri top and was absolutely freezing as we started! I had to beg the girls to jog for a bit to warm myself up. After a minute or two the sun started to come out and I was happy to walk. The girls were so popular!! Everyone waved and wanted to take pictures with them! So much fun to see!

By the time we hit mile one the idea of trying to run any more was completely out the window. It was just too much fun to goof off and laugh at ourselves. Disney characters on the cell phone, an Aaron sandwich, ducky-back rides; how could we possibly care about the race? Walking through Mexico we came across a margarita stand and Chippy treated us all to mid-race drinks. Booze was exactly what we needed to take the race seriously! Haley and Jess decided to spend some time duck watching in their duck costumes, drooling over funnel cakes, molesting each other in a phone booth; you know, the usual. There were a few points there where it looked like Jess was going to pee in her costume!

We finally get to the finish and there's all of a dozen people left in the stands and maybe 7 people behind us on the course. We had to pose for pictures with Goofy and Chip & Dale and some more random people who loved the girls' and their costumes. It comes down to the home stretch and Haley and I are in a dead heat sprint-to-the-finish. Unfortunately for her the Donald Duck costume exaggerated a pre-existing condition and she lost her balance a step before the finish line and I walked away (laughing) victorious!

This was by far the best race EVER! I've never laughed so much in my life and the pictures are instant classics.
What would you do differently?:

NOTHING!
Post race
Warm down:

There was no warm-down since it never really got warm and I was freezing the whole way. Holding a forzen margarita didn't really help either but damn was it good.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Too many opportunities to make Jess pee her pants.

Event comments:

This race wasn't even timed so it was just a time to have fun with friends and boy did we ever!

I'll put all the photos in my album later and put a link here so check back soon!

"Unfortunately for her the Donald Duck costume exaggerated a pre-existing condition and she lost her balance"

My big butt is not a pre existing condition! *GASP* And you pushed a poor defenseless duck to the ground for the sake of winning a non timed race. Shame on you.

Also: "drooling over funnel cakes, molesting each other in a phone booth; you know, the usual."

heh. The usual.

You shouldn't have had so many Gu's in the race. It was just a 5k.
