I'd like to get in on the Feb run challenge as well. I definitely need the push to run more since that is DEFINITELY my weakest area.

Will watch for the rules.

It sounds like we've got interest. I'll put it together if someone tells me how.

I think pride, high fives and smack talking should be the rewards.

I totally agree and fortunately for me, these are three of my favorite things.

Fort Knox? Nice. I spent some years at Fort Bragg (and Camp Hovey Korea too). How long have you been there?

Absolutely. I think we should modify the swim rules. The winner will be based upon % completed towards your goal. So, for example, you have a walk/run goal of 20 miles for the month and you make 19 miles. That's 95%. You will have outperformed someone who had a goal of 100 running miles and only ran 80 because it's only 80%.

Hmm.. I think we can make that work. I don't see why you can't make a time goal. We'll have to find some standard ratio so we can determine winning teams. How about an assumption that 10 minutes = 1 mile. (It makes the math easy).

For example, 3 people are on a team. 1&2 pledge 40 miles each. #3 pledges 200 minutes. The team sum would be a 100 mile goal.

Sounds fair... I like the idea of percentage of goal... it levels the playing field a bit.

so what do the loosers teams that do not win have to do? (had to be a bit more PC)

Sounds good. Since I'm starting the zone-based training, my committment will be in minutes instead of miles.

Count me in for a run challenge. Thats my worst event by far. This is a great time to work on building up that endurance.

Hey Crazy Canuck-- Love the name. We actually have a hockey shop here in Salt Lake called the Crazy Canuck.

Time challenge could be a lot more lopsided.

If you have someone who runs 12's and decides on 100 minutes, then they get a ten mile goal and are graced with lower than their actual mileage based on the 10 min/mile standard, but to someone like me that runs 7's and 8's then 100 minutes is much more than ten miles .....

I would think it needs to be mileage based myself.

Nah, just let the goal be time rather than distance. If I pledge 200 minutes and I run 200 minutes, (at any pace) I've met my goal. Since I'm trying to work on zone-based training, and mixing up my runs with different (read unknown distance) routes, I wouldn't want to venture what a time to distance conversion would be. This should also vary depending on the intensity of the run.
