Comments: I followed a girl that looked to be in my age group the entire time, she kept a great pace and was probably the reason I went 8 min mile the entire time (which definitly was not the plan). She didnt really know that I was behind her, so when we got to mile 13, I kicked up the pace and beat her by a second. I thanked her afterward, and told her she did a great pace the entire race. This was also my PR for a half, 1:48 as my previous one about 5 years ago. What would you do differently?: Nothing! I found that when you have zero expectations for a race (which I did!), you perform way above your goal (which had been between 1:50 and 2:00)! Post race
Warm down: walked around and got a beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: I guess lack of speed workouts. Event comments: Given the circumstances this was one of my favorite races to date. Not to crowded at the start line, and pretty good spectators, expecially in the areas that flooded pretty bad. There was suppossed to be parkingm which there wasnt, and my husband had to drop me off (from the car) at the start line and not see me start the race. No biggy. It was really emotional hearing that people were hear from all 50 states and 18 counties. I always get emotional at these races, and this one was just the same. I highly recommend this race for next year. Last updated: 2006-02-05 12:00 AM

Hit the snooze a couple times, got out of bed at 6....a little too late for a 7am race , but hey in the end, I made it in time! Ate a blueberry eggo, had some gatorade at 6:50, used the port-o-potty, and walked to the start line.
NA .... definitely no time, and I was only planning on using this race as a normal training day (training for IMAZ)
