Comments: I had been checking the weather every day for the past week. I made myself pre-register on Wednesday so that I would have SOME motivation to get up Saturday morning. Rain didn't hold off until 9:00 like I was hoping. In fact, by the time I got on the shuttle at 6:45 it was a steady drizzle. Goal for the race was mainly to get time seeded for Peachtree. If I was feeling good, then goal was to run a sub-50 min 10k - something that I've never 'officially' done. I did hit 49:58 in a 10k at the end of an Olympic tri last year, but it doesn't count towards strictly running. Took off down course and tried to tell myself to run steady 8 min/miles. Looking down at my watch after the first mile and seeing 7:19 made me a bit nervous and I assumed I'd lose a lot over the last 3 miles or so. However, it looks like i've finally learned how to pace myself and I know what I can do. What would you do differently?: Not much. Hope for no rain because that it's just mentally challenging knowing that every step you take is just adding more weight to your shoes. Post race
Warm down: Walked from finish line to middle school gym, picked up items and then walked back to car about 3/4ths mile away with running group friend. What limited your ability to perform faster: Rain. Steady rain. Event comments: Great course and race. Really organized and there are gymnasiums at both start and finish to aid against foul weather such as happened this year. Personal race goals were creamed. I'm so excited to run a sub-50 race. And to be under by 4 minutes is awesome. Run totally prepares me for first tri of the year in a week. Last updated: 2006-02-25 12:00 AM

Got up at 6 and drove the 25 miles around the perimeter to the race finish line. Point to point race so took shuttle to the start line. Hung around gym area stretching out and trying not to fall asleep. Had some gaterade, water and about half a marathon bar 30 minutes before the start of the run.
Shivered and got wet.
