Have you ever hosteled for a race? I'm doing it for my race in Galway, as it is the cheapest way to stay. I'm bringing a few cans of tesco value baked beans, some pitas, PB, and noodles....ahhh cheap food.

I hope your bunk mates are also in the race and not up partying until late!

Or is that

I hope your bunk mates are also in the race AND up partying until late.

I need good bed and good sleep, but then, I am 40.

I did once in Switzerland. Or I should say I tried. I still had to take a train into a small town and missed a connection. The next train was an hour later. I just threw on my running clothes and went for a run in the mountains. One of my best long runs ever. I threw rocks at a snake in my trail, and found a castle in the middle of nowhere. Good luck.

Go for the hostle. I have always slept good at them. most of my roomates were well behaved.

I stayed in a hostel in Hawaii last October when I got to Hawaii a few days before Laura did. Laura was there for Worlds. A few other triathletes were staying in the hostel that I was. So yeah, others do it.

Just watch out for the guy who arrives in your room at 3 a.m. and urinates on your race gear. Other than that, you should be fine.
