Total Time = 58m 36s
Overall Rank = 276/413
Age Group = Clydsdale
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Major hurry up and weight. Ate lightly though the morning starting with a Dunkies sandwich and moving to powerbars.
Event warmup:

Light stretching and nerves control. My 4 year old daughter kept me in check with reality.
Swim
  • 08m 51s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

Would have liked to have been more accurate in estimating my time of swim durring registration in Jan. Predicted 13 min. Passed too many people. Finished 14 out of 20 in class.
What would you do differently?:

Try to be realistic in my times. Felt bad that people were taking breathers at the end of laps so I could quickly pass.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Time unknown I think it was under 2 min
What would you do differently?:

My cycling shirt got stuck going on. Would like to find something a little easier to don.My pick up a Tri suit instead of shorts.
Bike
  • 26m 37s
  • 7 miles
  • 15.78 mile/hr
Comments:

I went to race day thinking it was a 14 mile bike. Pleasant surprise to be 1/2 that. Was able to realy let loose. 16 out of 20 in class.
What would you do differently?:

know my distances better and work on more hills and heavy cranking on trainer. Also must lift weights
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Forgot how wet feet affect socks. No real time in transition. Think I was around 2 min
What would you do differently?:

Get shorter ankle socks for races
Run
  • 23m 6s
  • 2.3 miles
  • 10m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

bought a fuel belt with water bottles and gel bottle. Need practice. Gel hard to eat, but valuable
What would you do differently?:

work more sprints in during training. Over all very happy.
Post race
Warm down:

Too short. Was stopped to get timming chip at finish line. Then had a sad daughter who was over tired to deal with.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

More sprint work durring short days.

Event comments:

I over achived in the times and speeds in all catigories. Considering my Transition times were included in my segment times I was still going faster than any of my training days. I wonder what would have happend if my lungs were working better. I seem to have had a cold since Nov. Oh well great experience and now I am hooked. :)

Nice report Joe! I wish I could have entered the same event, as I got home from Ohio a day early, but it was closed to registration. Perhaps will run into you at another event this summer...keep up the good work.

Way to go!! Hope you are hooked now!

I didn't know there was a Sudbury Massachusets.  My hometown is Sudbury, Ontario...most likely has an entirely different appearance!
