HELP!!! I'm in the Dalla/Ft. Worth area and I need a good, inexpensive entry level bike. I'm around 5'5" and I have no idea where to find what I need. I've already tried craigslist and ebay. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you have determined that you want to buy a used bike you'll have to know FOR SURE what size frame you'll need. The most basic way of finding that out is what's called "stand over height". That's gonna be the distance from your crotch to the floor plus an inch for clearance.

Frankly I would suggest buying from a good local bike shop even though you may not get as good of a deal as you could via e-bay or other means through the internet.

You can still get a pretty good starter road bike for around $550-$650. See if you can find a 2005 model that's on sale at a local bike shop.

Buying on e-bay is tough if you're not sure what you need exactly.

Yes go to a local bike shop to get fitted, they will tell you what size frame you need. Then you can shop from there. I ended up buying a used bike from a local bike shop for $275. Tip: they usually negotiate.

Have you tried the local cycling clubs and triathlon clubs?  Their members usually have bikes for sale at reasonable prices.   Also, check out the various bicycle shops in your area.  Try out the different bikes to see what size fits you best.  Talk to the people in these shops and get to know who is customer friendly and who is just trying to sell you the most expensive bike.

Richardson Bike Mart has a good selection of used bikes. You can also get a brand new road bike for about $500, but I'm not sure of your bidget

My wife is about the same height and is looking to unload her Specialized Docle Vita Multisport. It's a 2005 and only have about 400-500 miles on it. It was a great starter bike for her, however now she wants to upgrade. PM me if you think this might work for you.
