Inspired by $3.00/gallon gasoline, warm weather, long daylight hours, and a desire to squeeze in a little more training time, I hereby resolve:

Between May 1st and September 1st, I will ride my bike to work (and back) at least 50 days.

With the money I save on fill-ups, I will buy myself some nice tri gear in the fall.

Anybody else want to play?

Like to sure, but I can't play.  I work 45 miles from my office and nearly all of that is highways.

Great idea!  Too bad I work 50+ miles from home.  What if I continue to ride the bus back and forth?

Actually, Santa Rosa, CA, has a program where you record your bike/public commute to work and if you do so 10 x a month or more, they give you free movie passes.

I am in, I only work three days a week 3-12 hour shifts, and the commute is less than 10 miles but I can stretch it out.

I think it's somewhere around 80-85 days depending on how long your Memorial/Fourth of July weekends are. I didn't take my bike today because it was suppose to rain, but it's sunny. Lousy weather.com

I already am, so not much of a challenge. All of my savings is going into other areas (my daughter's college savings plan, church, gas for my wife's car, etc)

Same here, I already commute by bike to work, 20 miles one way. Great workout BTW.

OK - here is who's in so far.  I hope more people will join us as the summer progresses.

PM me every friday with your number of rides to date, and I will update the list.

The weather is not cooperating up here. I got 4 rides in the first two weeks.

How is everyone else doing?

I'm off to a slow start as well.  Weather, work and school schedules, and health issues have conspired to keep me off the bike.  I'm hoping to make better progress in the last half of May.

Ditto -- I'll try for 45 days.

I live quite close to work, so this shouldn't be too hard.  It just needs to STOP raining first.  We're going on 5 straight days here in the Boston area.

I'll tag this thread and try to remember to PM you weekly, challenge starter Tim.

I got two in this week, considering the local newstations have dubbed this week, "Flooding 2006" I think it's impressive. Next week, and hopefully next month, should clear up. Thanks Tim for starting this and keeping it running.

I didn't get in nearly as many rides as I'd hoped in May.  The kids are out of school now so I've got some more schedule flexibility, I am going to rock it in June. Let's go!
