Subject: RE: TAN #156 - No TANtrums in here!Sharyn5 - 2011-12-08 2:54 PM i thought i was ok...but i'm getting worried about tomorrow. i have never been let go from an employer. what does one say when being let go? besides bye. seriously. what do i say? i'm sorry? i wish things could have worked out? wait, that's what one says when breaking up. It's happened to me twice. IF IT HAPPENS, just be professional. They probably won't give you much of an opportunity to talk, because there is nothing good for you to say. In general, they'd rather take the awkwardness so that it doesn't fall on you. Just be professional about it, and listen to what they have to say, and at the end, say whatever is appropriate. "Thank you for the opportunity" works. "I understand it's just business" (if that's the case). "Eff you, arsehole" if the situation calls for it. Remember, this is ONLY IF IT HAPPENS. I'm still hoping it doesn't! |
