Pre-race routine:

Got up feeling sick, got the rest of my stuff together and grabbed a bagel. Oh and I shaved my legs for the extra smooth feel.
Event warmup:

nothin
Swim
  • 12m 3s
  • 700 meters
  • 01m 43s / 100 meters
Comments:

Well I didn't knwo that I was so far back in the swim, usually I have a better swim than most so this is surprising.

I thought I swam a very good race, I was calm, and flip turned and navigated my way through people fine, no big colisions, I felt really fast and confident.
What would you do differently?:

maybe go faster?
Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

Heh, I barely got into my shoes without falling. It was SHOCKINGLY cold. pouring rain. the last thing I wanted to do is go for a bike ride. but I did.

Hey I skipped the socks!
What would you do differently?:

Dunno, i should learn the shoes on pedals thing soon
Bike
  • 38m
  • 20 kms
  • 31.58 km/hr
Comments:

OOOOOOOHHH FIRST!!!! WOOT WOOT.. So the bike is my strongest. I'd like to point out that last year during this race was my third time on a bike. And my bike was like 50 minutes. WOOOOO I'm so excited.

SEE thats what riding with jen will do for you. Wow. I'm so pumped.

DURING the race I was cold and in pain, my legs were BURNING the whole time, it was a really uncomfortable race, but I focused on keeping my average up. It was wet and there was head winds. really and truely it sucked
What would you do differently?:

UMM, drink more. have my bike tuned. my shifting was terrible.

Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

umm, I should work on these transition thingys
What would you do differently?:

shoes on bike pedals I guess
Run
  • 26m
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 12s  min/km
Comments:

Um, "keeping cool" NOT A PROBLEM.. I was NUMB.. NUMB by the time I finished this race. I ran my little heart out though, I was still 5th in my age group.

The first km was HARD, but I kicked it out knowing that it would get easier. then I held this pace through the race. this really is fast for me, so I'm quite proud of myself

I REALLY need to work on my run.. lol.. I can't hold these people off like this.
What would you do differently?:

Umm..
Post race
Warm down:

died, then got into hot tub. man I was cold

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my legs I think. My run needs to get faster

Event comments:

Best part about this race is that Jen is in the transition zone and gets me good spots.

Dang commie units.  I had to get out my calculator to figure out how fast you are.  Great race.  Albert asked me to ask you just one question.  Do you go backward in time when you bike that fast?

Wow. Sounds like you have had a crappy couple of days after the race. Sorry to hear about the dehydration, but glad you're okay.

That said, WAY TO GO on the bike! Always nice when you can kick the rest of your age group to the curb like that... and especially with the weather conditions, too. Nice job on the swim and run, too.

Go rest up - you need it!

Nice work on the whole race.
You know I could come and push you on the run
But, you and Jen would have to help me with the swim and bike!
Sorry to hear about the dehydration!
Glad you worked it all out, good thing your brother and Mother came to the rescue!!

Hope you start feeling better.

You forgot to mention the high five in T1! Okay, kidding, I know that wasn't the highlight of your race.

Good work out there on Saturday. The conditions were so miserable and I'm sorry if I was afterward. I was so damn cold. If you can hold that pace in the wind and the rain, I'd can't wait to see what you will do when it is sunny.

Oooh and hyjack alert: Dan, when is your next day off? Come ride with us.

That's a great race, especially the bike, congrats on your times. Too bad about the de-hydration thingy though I have yet to experience that ... and after your description I don't think I want too.
