Csn we return to something like the old system? This new process is pretty frustrating to use and requires a lot more mouse clicks, page loads and just waiting. The workout need to appear instantly...as it is I upload then need to wait like an hour before I can enter the details (maybe this is a flaw now that will be corrects, but this needs to be instantaneous like before). Manually uploads are nice and instant, but again takes longer and is harder to use than the previous system. Maybe it's necessary because of the new capabilities, but it's a big step backwards in efficiency and user friendliness.

Sorry for being critical, it is meant to be constructive.

The delay is going to be reduced significantly. Our goal is to have it under one minute.

We don't see any major changes to the process until the new version of the site goes live.

Will it go back to a one page interface to upload and edit a workout? Even at one minute, that wait is not trivial and will be very annoying and a big step back in user friendliness, IMHO.

I know you're adding capability, but please try not to do it at the expense of efficiency and ease of use. Obviously, you've gotta do what you've gotta do, but if it could be more like the old system that would be great.

Considering the fact that under the old system my garmin wasn't uploading at all and now it is; I say it is way better this way.Smile

I guess my point is that I hope they can keep something like the old process while adding the capability to handle the new devices.

The redesign is all about efficiency and usability.

Simplicity vs. Power is the greatest challenge in interface design. We acknowledged that due to "feature creep" over the years we've lost that challenge with this version of the site.

I understand what you mean by the efficiency of the previous process. I designed it, it was very different from the other online processes available at the time and it was fairly controversial at the time. I caught some real flak for it here.  I was proud of it though. It can be noted that similar functionality appeared elsewhere.

We do want to have it both ways. A bulk upload process like we have now, and a "one workout at a time" process that allows you to fill in details of that workout at the time.  As a user of the site, I want to be able to use it that way.  We're still in the early design phase though, so no guarantees.

My harming used to upload in the old system, but now... No data is stored. I uploaded today's workout at 2pm and it still isn't showing up. (it's 8pm now). This is very, very frustrating.

There were some issues earlier with Garmin files that was fixed so you may want to try it again.

I uploaded one 2 days ago and it came up soon.  Today it just hasn't.  No indication of an error, just nothing.

What was wrong with it before that it needed to be messed with? (If it aint broke don't fix it and whatnot....)

I second the sentiment/suggestion/demand that uploads be shown instantly.  Some of us like to play around with our data and we crave the gratification of looking at the results of our efforts!

And on a related note, is this going to happen all over again when the 910XTs start shipping and the interface is set up for the new swim metrics?

Too early to tell for sure due to small number of attempts but this might help the uploads show up...I noticed one I overlooked and tried this, then I re-uploaded one from today and did it again and I'm 2 for 2 on success...

Upload and then logout and back in.

If this workaround helps you post about it.  If it consistently helps perhaps it could become official advice while we wait for the bugs to get sorted out.

(For the record I AM a chronic complainer, but I will help try to find solutions too.  I want to see things working, not just get a chance to run my mouth in the negative! Wink)

I got one for consideration.

Can the server remember I only have a garmin or that was the last thing I chose for uploading? Not a "Choose an upload device" with it blank and have to re-choose garmin every time.

Yeah, minor stuff but most of us only have one brand as a primary upload device.

(edit) With the reinstitution of the "Upload from Garmin" button it's moot for me but I'd bet those with a polar as their only device would still like it to remember their last upload device
