Pre-race routine:

Got up about 6:15 am. Checked the forecast, got part of my blueberry bagel and waited for mperdue as she was driving. Ate the rest of the bagel and drank a Stonyfield Farms banana berry light yogurt smoothie and some water. Picked up packets and used facilities at Alton Central School.
Event warmup:

None- got rained on. Was the theme of the day.
Run

Comments:

Comfortable training run for me, first half mary for mperdue. She did an awesome job although she was really hurting about mile 11. We started a little further back than we should have so got caught in the congestion early on. I think I'm a sucky runner so I seed farther back and probably shouldn't be quite as far back. I felt great all day, could have easily ran quite a bit faster or kept going.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Got medal and chip removed. Got food and mperdue got a massage. Stood in line for the bus back to the school. Got changed in the school and drove back to ME.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wasn't the plan for the day

Event comments:

The course has potential to be really pretty, even w/ the poor weather conditions there were tons of volunteers both at aid stations and providing entertainment, favorite was Jamaica, decent medal, reasonable post race feed even if I was too cold to get the Jordan's ice cream(I was rather disappointed by that), really looking forward to Mooseman and Timberman now

You had a great race!  I really liked the course, especially the first half with that long grade.  It was easy to get into a good rhythm there, and tougher on that back road.  Mooseman and Timberman are going to be fun!!!  See you there!

admire you to run in such poor weather.  I would have bailed.  And a great pace, too.

Nice job pacing Maureen to her first half. Too bad about the ice cream and the lousy weather.

Hey,

Great job - especially for a "training" run!  I guess given the weather, it was probable a lot more enjoyable run than it would have been at home alone.  Good of you to be helping someone reach a new goal!  that must feel really good!
