Your athletic curves fill me with longing

As you pass me with no effort, while I'm bonking

The pain in my calves momentarily forgotten

Replaced by the distraction of a strong woman jogging

Some may like the small and petite

Slender girls with little feet

No curves, no jiggle, I won't keep

Alas, my expectations, they fail to meet

Broad and tall with athletic grace

Burning and yearning to win the race

A drive I share, and dare, to pace

So patience, I ask, while I make my case

Strong and indomitable, I'll go as long as you like

Though the water, while I swim, be full of strife

Nothing easier than me on the bike

And the run, I admit, leaves me breathing for life

So spare me one clear, frank glance

You are the Athena I will romance

Proud and tall, we might have a chance

If you would only slow and join my dance

Speaking of Athenas...I was wondering whether to sign up for this division in an upcoming tri. I am 6'1" and 175 so I'm definitely over the weight limit. Is it mostly taller women that are in this division?

Yes, typically taller, more muscular women.  Most are in excellent shape, so don't worry about a stigma attached to being an Athena.  In the Texas State Tri I did in March, all three placing Athena's were probably about where you are, 5'10" -6', about 165 or 170, and they were more toned and fit, though not by much, than most of the rest of the field.  Register as Athena.  It is no different than regestering your age and being clasified that way.  Your as old as you are and weigh as much as you do - why shouldn't you compete with people who are starting from the same place as you are?

But it isn't Friday yet.  I thought the "odes" were only Friday afternoon comedies!  LOL.

Dude, you crack me up!

Yes, ode day is Friday, but I'm going on vacation in 1 day and my mind has already left!

And I have to admit, Lara is right.  There were some ladies at the gym today... wow.   I am not some lost-puppy teenager to be easily impressed by a cute girl with a nice body, but damn I love it.  It almost makes me want to be an Athena... (just kidding - I think...).

Though it didn't really manefest in my brain, I swear there was this kind of subtle greek-goddess image swimming around in my underbelly....  I had to write it now while the feeling was ripe....

As a 5'10" Athena meself I say "go for it!". I placed second in my Oly this last weekend...okay, yeah, maybe it was a field of 10, but hey, I got a placque!!! and the field was fit and tall...Hell, if you can train for a triathlon, babeeeee, who cares what you look like....ain't no stigma...

As for tmwelshy and his ode to Athenas...I'm swooooooning....I like walks on the beach, candlelit dinners, cute puppies, nights in front of the fire, tapped kegs of beer and of course...I just love peanut butter!..so...what's your sign?

signed....
nt...athena at large (play on words, there...) but hey, I PLACED SECOND!!!!

...maybe it's just me, but I love it when women swoon....  As we say in Texas, "caint hardly contain mself".

If Ron ever decides to do an "after hours BT" (we can call it the red room), I'll tell you what I was really thinking about doing after a candlelit dinner in front of the fire with a tapped keg of beer... with peanut butter.
