I need some gift ideas for my husband for father's day (from me and my 2 yo). He's a runner and is doing his first Xterra tri in a few weeks if that helps.

No sexxx the night before the race, but anytime before and after that should be good.

Home made items from the little one is always a treat and welcomed, I thought.  A home made card that states he gets a free massage after the race would be a great idea.

Have your kiddo "take dad out" to dinner with just the two of them. "(S)He's taking me out for Father's Day!"

That is still one of the most memorable father's days I've had in my life and that was in 1990.

This is an awesome idea!  You could find a local 5k or race for a cause that is something you would like to participate in.  You can register your husband and kiddo (as long as it is stroller friendly) for their first race together!

Ohhhh, good one. Running races don't occur to me because I actually cannot stand running but that is an excellent idea if Dad's into it.

Cute idea!  I'm pretty sure they have not done a race together.  I've done a few with her.  She was his training partner in getting a BQ time in his first marathon.  He says pushing the BOB on his long runs made it seem so easy in the race.

I like the dinner idea too- do I just get a gift cert so she can "pay?"

Yup

(edit) or call/visit the restaurant and give them your card information and tell them not to allow him to pay at all. Make him wonder

I would go w/a Weather Rock on a String. Let him hang it some where outside. If its warm, its sunny. If its wet,its raining. If its moving, its windy. They are fun to make w/the whole family and will put a smile on ol dads face.

Really??? So glad my husband doesn't subscribe to your way of thinking. Some great ideas. I'd also suggest a bunch of his favorite training/race nutrition like Gu, waffles, chomps, etc.

For Father's Day this year all of mine, 5 daughters, signed us all up for a local 5k and then lunch.  I can't wait.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, sex the night before is welcome, it is kind of like the last phase of taper and a great stress reliever for me. JMHO!

I love this, how funny.  I'm going to make some with the kids this weekend as their grandparents are coming to stay next week.

My kids usually wake me up at 6:00 and take me fishing (I don't really fish much and I'm not sure where they got this idea), then to the local donut shop.  This year they want to take me bowling after a trip to the donut shop.

Somehow My wife gets a nice relaxing quiet Sunday morning every fathers day.....
