I'm glad to hear.  I don't know what the truth is or not, but it drives me nuts the way our "system" that can't charge/convict somebody of a crime based on facts and evidence seems to try and get people under oath and nail them for obstruction or perjury in stead.

The moral of the story... If ever asked to testify in a hearing or asked questions by the police always plead the 5th wether you did anything wrong or not.

I am sick of the government messing with athletes. As I understand it, Congress (a bunch of liars) are upset that someone lied to them?

I am a big baseball/sports fan, but it drives me nuts when congress gets involved in sports. So the fact that some players did/did not use PED is suddenly a national priority? I guess more important than fixing the economy, or even fixing the bickering and dysfunctional state of the government. Just a bunch of politicians seeking the limelight.

Baseball is just a game. Sports is just entertaining, same as movies, theater, music concerts. Maybe politicians should also inquire into drug use among musicians and actors. Would make as much sense as they getting involved in this (or the BCS, or any other sport issue). Spending $2-$3 million dollars of tax payer money on this case is INSANE.

The issue here is not whether Clemens used PED or not, is about spending tax payers money in trying to solve an issue that is not that important to begin with. The fact that the main witness for the prosecution was (is?) a drug dealer (as PEDs in this context are considered illegal drugs) also adds an ironic twist to the whole affair.

Great point.

MLB is exempt from federal anti-trust laws and, therefore, essentially regulated by Congress.

The moral of the story... If ever asked to testify in a hearing or asked questions by the police always plead the 5th wether you did anything wrong or not.

Also, make sure you're telling the truth.  The analysis I heard over lunch was Clemens should give Rusty Hardin about a $10MM bonus for being a da*m fine lawyer.  The speaker suggested that the government just got out-lawyered.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'm so skeptical of our legal system that I won't even tell the truth.  If I tell the truth and then they find somebody who either lies or has a slight alteration on the truth then my words would still be used against me.   "I plead the 5th, your honor".

You guys will laugh, but I even plead the 5th on traffic stops.  "do you know how fast you were going"  my response "I plead the fifth officer"

Good point. But even so, the fact that congress has regulation power over MLB doesn't mean that  their involvement on the PED issue makes sense. They were not going after the PED's distribution network, nor criminal activity that could result in bigger issues (such as organized crime connections). They were going after athletes and their consumption of PEDs that, although illegal, did not represent a issue important enough to spend tax dollars on, IMHO.

My point is that the fact that players were using PEDs is as relevant as actors/musicians using other types of drugs. Spending government time and money on this issue, again IMHO, is an insult to tax payers.

That's funny... because every time I see a regular actor that get a role and all of a sudden he is some ripped Greek God in 6 months... well ya you know they are all using PEDS to get like that so fast. I really feel cheated when I see actors do that. there should be an investigation.
