Ladies...I've got a beef with some of you...

But that's my point!  Whoever has convinced you that your beautiful blond itty-bitty eyelashes are not awesome...they lied!  

...and don't get me started on push-up bras either!  GAA!

I have a friend in TV news who switched to the individually-applied professional ones after she got tired of fussing with the other kind under hot, glue-melting lights.

It looks great on camera with her TV makeup, but in her much more natural off-camera look (including, say, stopping by my house in pajama pants and a ponytail and no makeup; or rolling out of bed, throwing on a dress, and barely making it to church after being the late-night anchor the night before), yeah, "tarantulas on her eyes" isn't too far off.  I used to tease her:  "Here come J----'s eyelashes!  And, look, here's J----!"   

She loves getting glammed up though, whether for the camera or a night out, so honestly I see no harm in it.  She has dark coloring and, with dark eyeshadow and whatnot, can rock it without looking clownish.

How does she look without the tarantulas on?  I bet she's a pretty lady without them.  Again, it makes no sense to me.  I swear, if Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, and insert 20 more "popular/in" females, all wore neon face paint...a lot of women out there would be feeling "ugly" if they didn't wear neon face paint.  Don't ya think?

Back to the fake lashes.  It's not just fake lashes...a lot of women are taking drugs to grow longer lashes!  ...just when I think I've seen it all.  

I can't help but think of Al Pacino's last line from "The Devil's Advocate."  ..."vanity is definitely my favorite sin."

Just genuiunely curious ...is it that you dont care for the way the fake lashes (push up brassieres) look? Too fake? Or you don't understand women going to extremes (like taking a drug to grow lashes)? Or don't get why a woman would want to play up their natural beauty/assets?

To answer specifically, yeah, I think the fake lashes look bad.  I really do.  I know that's a matter of opinion, folks can agree or disagree.  Yes, they look fake to me.  Yes, I understand men and women will go to extremes to do what they think improves their appearance...my point is, I think they are doing themselves a disservice.  As for the "playing up their natural beauty/assets," I think that's fine...but rather than accentuate what is natural, they seem to want to take on a different persona.  Be proud of what ya got, ya know?  Be healthy, be natural.  A woman who needs a wheelbarrow in front of her to walk around because her chest is so large, doesn't seem to be healthy or natural to me.

Don't get me wrong, guys do ridiculous things as well.  "male enhancement" drugs have made millions if not billions.  "hair loss miracles," millions if not billions too.  

I think the "lashes" thing got to me because it seems to have been totally contrived within the last few years. (male enhancement and baldness cures have been around a loooong time)  I know the beauty industry is just doing its' job...makin' money...but it's just a yucky way to make money if ya ask me.  Then, taking drugs with risks of side effects, all in the name of arbitrarily contrived beauty standards is even more yucky.  I can just see the pharmaceutical company sitting at the table discussing this drug they've created to treat glaucoma...when they notice the drug has this ability to grow eyelashes longer.  BINGO!  Jackpot!  Get the cash register ready.  

Interesting, I thought ladies were doing that to attract guys. I'm too old to attract guys except the one I'm married to and he knew when he married me that I don't have long eyelashes so, you know, who gives a ________. I think I have even heard them referred to as spider lashes.

I mean really, who in your life cares about the length of your eyelashes?!

Yep.  I like women without makeup. Not trying to be "prudish" or whatever....I just don't see the point.   My youngest girls wre experimenting with makeup now.....pretty comical.
