So who is watching? I caught the premiere yesterday. It got my attention. Still setting up the story on tonight's episode. So far I like it. I certainly applaud the premise.

I like the show a lot especially Sam Watterson’s character. It's fun to see him outside of Law and order drinking and cussing. Also a lot of very attractive woman who can all really act, I love me some Olivia Munn.

I've liked it a lot so far. I hope it can keep this momentum up (probably will, being an Aaron Sorkin show).

My wife and I both enjoyed it.  It's a bit wordy, which I like, but most shows like that start to wear on viewers with extended rants.  I REALLY like that they stick little humoruos side notes in to the middle of their sentences, like an after thought or an observation that they thought but that we weren't supposed to hear, kind of like reading a book.  I caught my self laughing out loud (is ok if I don't text it out) on several occasions.  But you do have to pay attention or else the good stuff will get muttered past you.

I hope it catches traction.

Ya, so far I like the fast paced dialog. Keeping up with a conversation between Jim and Margret almost hurts. She's hot.

And ya, the economist is OK too.

I really enjoyed Sam Watterson's character as well.  Seems like he's always typecast as some indignant self-righteous . (it made that movie about him and Pol Pot almost unwatchable)   I liked seeing him like this!

Big part this week.

Good episode. It's all good until it starts effecting someone's pocket book.  Typical though... they always have to have some drama over change. Nobody likes change.

Getting into the story and the "drama" of the series, it would also be a nice bonus if all the "facts" laid out are actually true. I mean I completely know it is a drama about news... it would just be nice if the drama about doing reputable news was also... well reputable.

The first few episodes were good easy targets... I didn't take the "facts" about the Tea Party as truth, but it did echo my sentement towatds the Tea Party and what they started out as and what they are now. I'm curious if it will start taking shots at everyone (both sides). That would at least make it interesting.

As much as I was a West Wing fan (but never watched Sports Night, since I wasn't a sports fan), I am getting to a point with Sorkin that I reached with David Mamet.

The dialogue is snappy, and great, but I don't buy it. As opposed to writing a number of characters, both Mamet and Sorkin tend to write one template and apply it over several characters.

In other words, everyone in the show talks like Aaron Sorkin.

Don't get me wrong, it's far superior to 99% of mainstream tv crap that is dumbed down beyond belief. But the attempt to go the other way can fall short, and be just a bit too precious and clever for its own good. That's the trap of Sorkin's writing. I felt like it was happening in The Social Network too, though I found that film to be fantastic, and not overdone. (Come on, Sorkin and Fincher together? Spacey producing, Trent Reznor doing the music - win win win.) There, it wasn't several characters, just Zuckerberg and the Winkle-vii (great line, that one) that seemed to talk more like the screenwriter inhabiting them.

When I see talent, I have higher expectations. I'll watch a one-trick pony if it's a great trick, and with both the mentioned authors, I'm there, just wanting something more.

Contrast that with two high quality shows that not only keep you guessing, but have clearly different voices and unpredictable story: Breaking Bad on the dramatic end, Louie on the comedic. (If you can get through the vulgar nihilism, which as an old-school Chuck Palahniuk fan, I can.)

I watched this week's episode last night and again I was impressed.  I think that because Will self-identifies as a Republican that we will get to see them take aim at both sides.  We'll see.

One thing that keeps catching me off guard is that they keep saying that the purpose of the news is to "inform the electorate."  I don't really see it that way, but it's an interesting viewpoint.

Jane Fonda was awesome, I hope we get to see more of that story.

Well as far as the Constitution, that is it's job... OK, that is why it needs to be protected, so that "We the People" can be kept informed of what the Government is doing. Obviously it can do what ever job it wants, but Fredom of the Press is there for a reason.

Ya Jane was good. I'm sure we will see more of her.

I sort of found it more interesting what her concerns were. The bean counter was arguing ratings, but afterwards she was arguing the buisness she has before the Legislature... I was curious if anyon else glossed over that.... a news organization has interests before elected officials, and is afraid to report of those elected officials, because it would then hurt that news organizations pocket book... or at leas tthe owners pocket book of her coorporation that has many other holding the news organization just being a small part.

That is not so far fetched and in that case the checks and balances of our Consitution are non existant due to money's influence on the buisnes.... naw, that couldn't be the case.

I found that part very interesting and i want to make the time to research it.  I'm curious to know what type of interests a news organization may have before the legislature that would make the brass uneasy about pointing out the inconsistencies of elected officials.  Is it other divisions of the company, special arrangements, etc.

This show is quickly becoming my favorite.

Well we don't know the fictional interests of her corporation, but Jane did say that the news division is just a small part of her holdings. So no telling really or if it was explained better I missed it. Maybe I will go back and listen.

But back in the day you had "the press" that were companies, but now everything is owned by something which is owned by something. You want those little companies to be profitable and that means they have to do their job... but for a huge corporation to amputate a joint off a finger to make the rest of the holding better, well... that's easy enough. Fire everyone, replace them with yes people. In this case of the "Newsroom" it's even better because the old crap was very profitable.

I just think of Fox news. Yes we all know it's biased... but what if they decided to pull the covers on conservatives to make the movement better... 'm sure it would make a lot of conservatives mad, and after all they are "big business". Fun stuff.

Politically speaking imagine if all news was fair and totally unbiased. I think a lot of them would have a backlash from whatever groups. In my opinion most people already have bias so they tend to believe more stories that confirm their point of view.

If only... I really wish I could trust one of them. There are good news stories out there, but it's hard to sift through all the muck. At least with Fox it is out in the open and I know what to take with a grain of salt. Other outlets like to claim neutral... but after a while you know they are not. In todays world of newsertainment, it is hard to trust anything you hear.

I had to catch up with last week. This week's episode was really good.

I really like the show. I'm sold.

...although it always bugs me when the really intelligent people can't figure out how to stop doing stupid things. The romantic "build up" between the two jrs and the two seniors is a little annoying... but I still really like the interaction of them... just get on with it already.

... and everyone cries at the "jersey scene" in Rudy! I love that movie.

Ya, Olivia is rocking it. Sexy intelligent women are really hot.

...I don't see Sloan and Will hooking up. But sure... if the writers want to put in more drama and delay before him and McKenzie do then sure.
