Swim
Comments: Lake Grossssssssssssssssssssssss. For the entire distance of the lap we had to swim through these slimy weeds...and more weeds...and more weeds. Lake Gross also had a sulpher-y smell and taste to it. Threw up while swimming once because I accidentally swallowed some of Lake Gross. Blech. Fairly slow but every stroke received a handful of weeds. I got out of the lake covered in strings of slime. Used to swims where the weeds are in the shallow part of the lake...but these weeds just never went away! Otherwise the swim was fine..the field was fairly small and there wasn't a whole lot of traffic after the first 50m. What would you do differently?: Swim faster? Pick a lake not full of gross weeds? Transition 1
Comments: Felt transition went fairly well. Time included in bike time. Pretty long run from the water to transition and then a run with the bike again to the mount line. Bike
Comments: Bike went well for the first 25km or so. Then my lack of bike fitness caught up to me. I need to pick it up bike wise...that is for sure! I didn't get passed too much until the last 15km...quads were a burning! What would you do differently?: Get more bike fitness... Transition 2
Comments: Time with bike time. I kind of had an awkward dismount and then had to run down a gravel path...it wasn't exactly smooth...haha Run
Comments: Slowwwww.... Bit of a frustrating effort for me. I couldn't get into a rhythm with the run. Maybe it would have been better if my bike fitness had been up to par for an oly, but I struggled pretty much through the entire course. What would you do differently?: Obviously need to run more....and specifically if I do this race again, need to do more trail running. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Low level of fitness compared to 2011. I'm probably fitter than I was in 2009-2010...but compared to last year this year has been a bit disappointing due to time. School kicked my butt from Feb-June...so I've probably only been really back to training for 6 weeks. I guess it can only go up from here? Let's go Coach Mike...guess that was the kick in the ass I needed. Event comments: Don't know if I will be back to swim in Lake Gross. Maybe a du? Haha. Last updated: 2012-08-20 12:00 AM

Had some cereal and toast for bfast.
