I was 8 years old when he stepped off the Lunar Module and onto the moon.  My dad was working late and I was lying in my parents bed with my brother and sister watching the black and white TV they had on a closet shelf.  We cheered when he stepped off the ladder.

RIP Neal Armstrong......what a life!!

I remember sitting with my Dad. He had blankets on the windows, and he was taking pictures of the TV. I remember it being a big deal to him. Not that long ago, 5 years maybe, I took a trip down memory lane... well after doing the math, I realized that it was Niel Armstrong stepping foot on the moon. I could not beleive it, because I was just under 2 years old then... but that is what it was. I remember it clearly, the house we lived in, the car we drove, and where I was when he stepped off the ladder. RIP Neil.

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."  Such infamous words by an incredible pioneer.

Sally and Neil, both gone so close to one another. I was alive for the rise of Sally but Neil Armstrong was no less inspirational to me. Also, I did not realize until reading his obit that he, too, was a Trojan.

I was a member of Young Astronauts and all ... after having been kicked out of Girl Scouts.

I didn't think it was possible but you have risen even further in my esteem.....

In 1969 I was eleven years old living in south Mississippi.  Dad was working at the test site in Picayune.  It were interesting times to say the least.   The moon landing, Camille,  civil rights, and other such doings made that year a watershed one in my memory.

My wife just met him not too long ago and got some pictures. Of all the celebs she has spent time with, that was probably the first time I was impressed and actually jealous.

I got kicked out of girl scouts too - cheating at volleyball, and stealing from the snack bar.....
