It's dark when I get to work in the morning.

Sunrise is currently 4' before my work show time.

This is weird for me.  I lived on the far eastern edge of this timezone for the previous 3 years and now I live near the far western edge...so I'm used to earlier sunrise/sunsets...this late sunrise/sunset thing is unusual!

And it's still, what...6 weeks before the time change?  I bet it's still dark at my work show time even after the time change!

I hear ya. Before moving to the Rochester area I lived my entire life on the eastern edge of this time zone. I'll never get used to it.

Try Alaska for a couple of years. In the Fairbanks area the sun does not really set between May and August. 4am runs require sunglasses. Now winter is coming we lose about 6minutes a day of daylight. Around Dec 15-20 we will get 3-3.5hrs of daylight, but that is more like dusk. A fun experience to say the least.

I've been TDY to Fairbanks in February and June...so I got to see a little bit of that!  Not sure I could do it long term!

You people and your silly DST ..

I love that it's getting dark by 7pm here and stays dark until 5:30am!  This please me!

You neutral zone state areas are OH-SO-SMART, aren't you?

Clearly.  How come the states on either side of us, and above us need this extra daylight and we do not?  Hmmm?  Just sayin'!

You're closer to May hee koe?

That's more like what I'm used to!  Right now sunrise is about 0730 and sunset is about 1940...

This will be the shortest day of the year for me.
Dec 21, 2012
Sunrise 10:59 AM
Sunset 2:40 PM
Daylight hours 3h 41m 29s
Sun at highest 12:49 PM
Percentage the sun will be above horizon 2.0°

I do love the summers here in AK though.
Jun 22, 2012
"Sunset" 12:48 AM from the 21st
"Sunrise" 2:58 AM
Sun at highest 1:53PM
Percentage above horizon 48.6°

The summer months the sun "sets" but it is not much darker than dusk. It is awesome once you get used to it. The Midnight Sun Run is a fun race starting at 10:30PM. Weekends are packed full of activities.
