Suspend him! That's inexcusable
Fine Him. It's just the same as verbal criticism
Let it slide. Pay no attention to the problems

What's your take on the field goal at the end of the Patriettes/ Ravens game? If Bill was just looking for a review (which is not allowed under the rules), what's his expected punish, eat for grabbing the ref? A player certainly gets ejected for that, shouldn't a coach? Or is it like post-game criticism? Or do we put on the blinders and think it's OK because these guys are replacements and we don't want to admit a problem? Hmm....

Suspend him at least one game. They need to get a handle on this crap ASAP.

The Pats should have to use a replacement coach from the arena league for one game.

I do not think it should be anything more than a fine based on what I saw and heard on Sportscenter. I did not see the ned of the game!

It's not like we had his defense go all out on the last :04 seconds!

Not worth a suspension.  A fine maybe, at most.  I didn't think it was that big of a deal when I saw it live.

A fine is fine, but it's not the same as verbal criticism. Should be a steep fine.

A player gets tossed if he does that. In baseball, the merger gets tossed. In my opinion, you toss him. One game suspension; let Kraft decide if he gets paid or not.

It's set out in the rule books that you CAN'T touch the ref.  There is precedence that it's a fine for a coach to bump into a ref.

East coast Harbaugh is going to get a fine too, he bumped into a ref trying to get his attention for a time out.

If the rule says fine him then fine him.  If the rule says suspension, the suspend.

flip18436572 - 2012-09-24 12:42 PM If the rule says fine him then fine him.  If the rule says suspension, the suspend.

I lean toward X2ing the above, but 1) I have no idea what the rule says and 2) I think players and coaches are causing many of the problems with the refs.

These refs are not scrubs, they're just not the NFL regulars.  So the players explode at every call the refs make regardless of the legitimacy of their complaints.  Then the refs get either ticked about the reaction to every call or they start doubting their calls.

Baseball doesn't allow batters/pitchers/catchers to question balls and strikes in part because if you did it all the time, the ump would hesitate to make his gut call which is usually pretty right (not to mention the delays to an already slow game).

I think it's insane that College Football has full-time refs but the NFL can't say "no Ed, you're not allowed to be a school superintendent, here's a big fat salary to make you a full-time employee of the NFL."  Of course, then you couldn't fine them for mistakes.  Maybe you could take money out of their bonus...

If Al Michael and Chris Collinsworth weren't saying every 5 seconds that the replacement refs need to get the game under control, I could've actually watched the game!

I think they have to suspend him at least one game.  Refs are supposed to be untouchable and if players don't get that message, things will deteriorate even more than they already have.

X2 this. No coach would ever get away with this if the real refs were on the field.

But they were right.  The replacement officials have been terrible, and last night was no different.

As far as punishment for Belichik...perhaps CoJ could vote on whether this is spank-worthy behavior?

Seriously, if Belichik were to get a 1-game suspension, it might allow him to continue his 9 1/2 year streak of not coaching a team with a losing record!  I'm not a Pats fan, but that really is impressive.  So, be suspended, let the assistants get him a win, and he can resume his streak.

Well my Coach and Def Coordinator (Denver) got fined $30,000 each today for "verbal abuse" at one of last weeks calls. Everyone knows you do not touch an official. Something will be done... what ever the rules and precedent calls for.
