Subject: RE: Administrations knowledge of Libya attackI think the premise of the "lies" are mostly related to the evidence appearing to show they had direct knowledge that it was a terrorist attack very soon, but continued on for many days insisting it was a spontaneous attack by people who were upset about the youtube video. The logic is that if it's the "video's fault" then the administration has no liability, but if it was a terrorist attack then the administration failed to do what was necessary to keep our embassy safe. I've seen several stories on the subject. Here's an opinion piece from this morning going over the issues. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/post/did-obama-lie-about-the-embassy-attacks/2012/09/27/2751f81e-083e-11e2-afff-d6c7f20a83bf_blog.html Personally, I feel there are two sides to the discussion. The first part is did the administration policy of supporting the Arab Spring contribute to the attacks? The second part of the discussion is the administrations fairly obvious attempt to lessen the political impact of the attacks by pinning it on a spontaneous rowdy crowd getting out of control and apparently trying to hide (at least initially) that it was an Al Qaeda attack. |
