Subject: Anyone use Neatdesk or similar?

I've looked online and the reviews are pretty mixed - anyone use one of these things to go paperless at the home or office?

The wife and I are just swimming in paper and we'd like to cut down - any guidance?

tried the smaller one for a week, boxed it back-up. it reads a lot, but i still had to type/sort most.

To scan and store old stuff pretty much any scanner will work, but it's a pain to do it all.  I tried it once and just gave up.

Most of our paper at home was from bills so we were able to successfully switch 90% of our accounts over to paperless billing which cut a ton of it down.

Doing it with a flatbed sucks, but a good document scanner and a shredder can make things a lot better. We scan everything and the only trick is remembering where you file things. Nice to be able to look up any filing from work or on the road.

I borrowed one from work for a huge batch and then just use an Epson combo scanner for the weekly stuff.

I do my "important, but not a bill pile" or previous years tax returns with a flat bed. Yeah; it's tedious, but I do it when I'm sick or injured and have to take it easy anyway. A document feeder is great for things like bank statements or multi-page stuff.

I keep 1 1/2 file drawers total for everything paper including owners manuals. Most of those I download, then save.

Your multi function printer will suffice. Neatdesk doesn't seem to offer much advantage.
