yeah airfares where rough as its in the middle of spring break. But I have now signed up for the race. little worried that I will not get any long bike rides in chicago before the race.

Not to threadjack, but I'm signing up for the IM in Ocala...is there a thread for that?

There should be a link called "Race Talk" But I see none.. So I guess a discussion thread has not yet been started.

I punched the address of the park (Carney Island, Ocklawaha, FL) into Hotels.com and got three hotels within six miles.  National chains, $100-150/night.  Couldn't cut and paste any linkies, sorry.

I'm probably staying w/ friends in Micanopy, which is about 45 miles away, however I may change that given how close the hotels are.

On an unrelated note, I'm following Gale Bernhardt's 13-weeks to a sub-13 hr. Ironman for this, my 1st 140.6.  It's light on the bike volume, but I come from a cycling background so if there was one facet that I'd choose to be light in favor of concentrating on the other two, it'd be cycling.  We'll see...

I live about 90 minutes away,  planning on going up there in February and riding the bike route.  I'll post details when I do.

Anyone else nearby up for a ride in February?

I'd like to ride the bike course. How fast are you? Biking is definitely my weakness. I swam in the lake last weekend through--I was surprised how clear it was. It seemed clearer than other local lakes. It was cold though. Made me rethink my sleeveless wetsuit.
