If anything, I wish I was a little more addicted to tri. I'd probably be faster if I was.

Not just tris.  I'm addicted to accomplishing new physical feats.  I gave up an addiction to baked goods.

I try not to be that unidimensional and people who turn into "that guy" have never impressed me.

I started with marathons 3 years ago.  I've run 5 of them, doing my 6th in May.  I did a HIM in August, and have another this year with the ultimate goal of IM next year.

Then there is ultra-running...

That's where my wife says she will draw the line and leave me.  Laughing

Hopefully I can woo her to the idea.  I'd really love to do the badwater run one day.

I'd love to say no.  BUT I was a smoker I gave that up around 14 years ago, initially replaced it with the gym - fitness classes, did about 11 a week for years.

Then it was running,...now it's dabbling in triathlon.

Addictive personality.  Just am.

Interesting thing is...most people that would fit that description don't give a carp about impressing anyone. Yea, I've been called that "one dimensional - that guy"at different times in my life. Eta...my addiction for the last 20+ years is much healthier then the addiction I had prior to running...biking...swimming.

If it is what works for you then more power to you.  I was never able to be comfortable being all about only one thing.  Life is too short and there is too much out there for me to restrict myself that way.  Balance is important.

And if you don't give a carp about impressing anyone A) Why did you feel the need to respond? and B) That actually makes you not "that guy" to my way of thinking.

maybe to make the point that there are people that do things to please themselves and don't give a carp about impressing anyone.  and I don't care if I'm not "that guy".  Tongue out

I was hooked on Crossfit, but after finding Duathlons it has been shelved.

Of course people do things to please themselves that is a given for most people.

I've been clean and sober for decades. In that time I've become very interested in, passion about, and sometimes obsessed with many things. None of them were a addiction. I seriously doubt anyone here is actually addicted to triathlon.
