I have currenlty done all my tris on my road bike and have been saving for a tri bike and I am set on a couple but my question to you is what type of difference did you notice in your avereage speed(given the same terrain). I know in shorter rides it my be less noticeable but possibly not.  The reason I am asking is i spent some time this weekend testing out tri bikesand noticed how much of a different ride it was...different being the muscles I used. So like I said can you see gains in speed on both the bike as well as the run? I know this may also be a as you get use to answer as well.

Freakishly, I'm actually more comfortable in the aero position now than I am on my roadbike...And I'm really comfortable on my roadbike. And my tribike is wicked fast...the first time I got on it, I took 4 minutes off my best time on a 12 mile loop.

The coolest thing though, is the way my legs feel when I start the run...not at all the deadleg feel I used to get on bricks with my roadbike. I had read that it made a difference, but I was doubtful. To my surprise, my legs really were fresher.

Of course this is anecdotal, your results may be different.

I do 80% of my training on a road bike. Usually the week before a tri I switch, and maybe it's just me, but I actually feel stronger in the aero position, and my mph avg is increased.

That being said, no it's not as comfortable on the longer bike rides (probably my fault), and prefer my road bike in the very hilly area where I live - constant rollers.
