This is a fantastic place to race! Did it in 2010. I might be joining this group after Ironman Texas. We'll see.

I'm very interested in this event, but it says registration is open for only 1 week. Is this true or am I missing something?

You can still register.  Go to ironmancozumel.com and click on register, then you have to click on the active.com link in the middle of the page.  I just followed it through to be sure.  But, yep, age group registration is still open at $650.

Anybody booked their hotel yet?

I've had a lot of recommendations for "The Palace", but haven't reserved anything.

http://www.hotelflamingo.com/

Here's a link to where we are staying. It's a small boutique hotel, so may be sold out already. My friend says they are very friendly and really take care of their guests! They have a pasta dinner the night before Ironman for anyone staying there.

My husband and I are in (his first IM, my 2nd). Can't wait!

How's everyone's training going? My husband and I are just getting going due to a cycle accident 8 weeks ago. I broke my elbow and got 4 screws put in. I think we're a little behind, but still plenty of time.

Eeeks that sound awful. I hope you both are healing well.

Training is going well. Living in WI we are still having winter weather (rain, chance of snow, and cold temps). Thankful I like my Trainer so well.

Really looking forward ending my season with Cozumel and chilling on the beach when I am done

Not really training for Coz just yet.  I'm running a marathon in two weeks and then plan to start a training plan for Racine 70.3 (July 21st).  I haven't biked since October....LOL!

I did a 30 week training plan for LP last year, which was WAY too long!  Since Coz is so late in the year, I didn't want to get started TOO early.  For me, that can (and has) caused burnout/fatigue problems.

Weather pending, I may get my bike out for a ride tomorrow .

Which marathon are you doing?  I'm doing Kentucky Derby (Louisville) in two weeks.  I see you are from Nashville, so thought maybe you might be doing the same one....

A question for those of you who have raced before. I am using tribike transport for the bike but am bringing in-laws and brother In law plus 2 kids under 5. Is the ferry an option? It was save some cash, but need to know if it is realistic. We all have traveled a good bit but never been international with kiddos. Thanks for the advice.

I competed in IM Coz in 2010.  My direct flight to Cozumel was changed as my connecting flight was late into Houston.  The three of us had to fly to Cancun instead.  We were all lugging along our bike cases.  We took a shuttle from the Cancun airport to the ferry drop off point.  You have to walk a little way through the shopping area to the dock where you can purchase a ticket.  This area seemed safe as there were lots of US tourists and locals with families around.  The boat ride was about 40 minutes.  When we landed there were lots of taxi's around.  In my opinion this is a more adventurous way to travel to Cozumel but should be okay with kids.  If you are unable to fly directly into Cozumel this is a good option.  You may also want to check out Mayair as they fly from Cancun into Cozumel.  I reserved a round trip flight last year and the cost was $110.  I hope this helps.
