I don't really pride myself to much with being much of a sentimental parent.

There are times though,  I'm made keenly aware of how much I love him, and it just makes my heart ache like crazy.

He's growing so fast.

Too fast.

Don't blink.

Yesterday I would crash on the couch with my oldest on top of me.
Today my oldest is on his second tour in Afghanistan and my youngest has his own store.

A twelve-year-old who is on the verge of being boy-crazy... Seems like just yesterday we were shopping for her first school clothes. It goes by fast.

Another one on the way. I'm sure she'll be graduating from college within a year.

Yesterday my oldest (10yrs) biked 8 miles on public trail while my friend and I ran.  I was nervous as he got out of sight and I didn't see him for a bit, but he double backed to check on us and then patiently waited at the truck at the end.

He was so very courteous as he passed other runners/walkers calling "on your left" and saying "excuse me".  Even if I couldn't hear him, I could see the people turn their heads as he passed.

Now I've got to get bottle cages on his bike so he can carry extra water for our long runs this summer.  Wonder how hard waking him up at 6am will be?????

Two lovely girls, 10 and 8.  Both have been doing triathlons for a few years with the first of this season coming this weekend.  It amazes me how fast they grow up.

Yup, mine are 18, 16, & 14.  The oldest is graduating in a few weeks... eek

The good news is that they kind of ween themselves away past 16 so it's not as drastic as it seems.  I'm lucky if I see my 18 year old 2 or 3 times a week at this point between school, work, and his friends.

16, 14, and almost-9-on-Mother's-Day here.  All boys.  Yep.  Growing up way too fast too soon.

I'm proud of all of them and still give them embarrasing hugs and kisses.

My kids are at such wonderful, fun ages almost 3 and 6. Almost ever day though I can't believe how fast they grow. Makes me feel even older. But they make me smile EVERY day.

They can make you insanely crazy and insanely proud, all in the space of a day. And yes, they grow up way too fast.

I'm leaving work early today to see my youngest at his track meet. I will stand around for two hours waiting for him to throw the discus three times. It's worth every second.

My oldest came home from work last night to a tri club BBQ in the yard, grabbed a beer and a burger and joined right in the conversation. And this morning handed me the $200 I had loaned him in January.

So nice when they become human beings

Stop it!

My kids are 6 and 4.

They are not growing too fast!!!  They will stay small until they get out of college and get married when they will magically become full-grown, responsible adults.

*Denial complete.

yep.  11-year old son and 13-year old daughter.  I don't know how they got to this age so quickly...especially the 13-year old.  She turns 14 in June and has really become much more independent (and opinionated) but makes me proud every day.  They both make me proud!

Mine are 8 and 8.5 (Adopted).  They are awesome!  and so different. Our girl loves reading, writing, gymnastics and acting.  Our Son is beating 6th graders in chess (He's in 3rd grade) Loves sports and can amazingly remember sports scores, stats, strategies and more.   They do grow up fast, but it's fun to see their minds learn and grow.

Funny, we have a set of twins as well as 3 other kids.  One day we were at the Y and a gal comes rolling through with triplets.  My wife and I both commented to each other....."man, how do you take care of triplets".  In time we got to know her and one day we were talking and my wife said, "I don't know you do it, at least with twins you have 2 hands."......the woman didn't miss a beat and said, "it's not so bad, there is a woman at our church who has quads, I have no idea how she does it".  I guess we all just do what we do.

I consider raising my children to be the greatest joy in my life.

Enjoy it while you can, because it is over way too quickly. I had the joy of coaching them in softball during their pre-teen years. Now 25 and 23, and the coaching seems like yesterday. Luckily, they become adults that you like to hang out with just as much. We visited with their grandpa and great-uncle a couple weeks ago and everyone shared drinking stories. Way too weird.

Yeah, the beer tab at the restaurant starts to get pricey once they are of age Laughing. My "boys" are 24 and 22 and I could not be more proud of them. I can still remember their chubby little baby faces like it was yesterday. Each stage of growing up was new and challenging and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Mine are ages 3 (girl) and 1 (boy). I've been heeding everyone's advice and trying to soak it all in.

I photo and video a lot, so when they are insolent teenagers I can go back and look at happier times.

Its weird not to be dragging three (or 6 or 7 with friends)boys with me everywhere I go. Sometimes it's nice :-)

Even the youngest wants  to be with the guys doing 'guy' things now (which is the way it should be). BUT, I jump in the boat when they go fishing even through i have no real interest in fishing just to keep that relationship door open. My youngest is starting to get an interest in running & triathlon so maybe that will open another...
