Age Group Rank = 2/11
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6:00 am had a cup of coffee and a protein shake. Made sure I had everything and left for the pool. Once I got to the pool I realized I forgot my garmin so I had to run home thankfully it's only a 1/4 mile away. I set up my transition next to Tim and Eric which worked out well. Checked in got marked and then went outside to warm up.
Event warmup:

Jogged around the parking lot for about 20 minutes and stretched.
Swim
  • 12m 1s
  • 525 yards
  • 02m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

I know I was fastest in my AG but that's just because we're all poor swimmers any other race we would get murdered. I need to work on this segment. Granted I've only been swimming for 3 months in need to get I the 1:50 range to be happy.
What would you do differently?:

Swim more without aids (fins, PB)
Transition 1
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

I had trouble snapping my chin strap, but other than that t-1 went pretty smooth, keep in mind this was a reverse so things were a little different.
What would you do differently?:

Work on snapping helmet a little more.
Bike
  • 32m 55s
  • 11.3 miles
  • 20.60 mile/hr
Comments:

I had a really good ride, I knew when we got to the turn around and I saw my average speed at 23.5 MPH I knew coming back was going to be a test I just geared up one and tried to get as small as I could. The flags at the golf course were moving but it was swirling so we had mostly head and crosswinds coming back. Coming up the hill I told myself just to push as hard as possible and then make it up in the last mile. I pretty much followed Eric the whole time I passed him once and he passed me back about a mile later, other than passing some one in my AG right off the bat that was it, drafting wasn't bad at all from what I could see everyone kept a respectable distance.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder
Transition 2
  • 00m 39s
Comments:

Reverse once again so this was bike to swim, my legs were only a little jellied I dropped one of my ear plugs and had to pick it up. Other than that I need to work on just leaving the shoes on the bike and just jumping off. I grabbed one more swig off water and was off.
What would you do differently?:

Practice leaving shoes on the pedals.
Run
  • 23m 17s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

Best pace I have ran over three miles yet, I thought I was pushing it a little bit but I felt good and just went with it. Ran with Eric pretty much the whole time, we thought about trying to catch Tim but decided against it. I pushed up the hill a little harder than Eric and beat him into transition.
What would you do differently?:

In hind site I probably could have ran a little harder but not enough to have made it matter.
Post race
Warm down:

Had a banana and a water and walked around with Tucker.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My swim needs more work.

Event comments:

Had a fun race and a really good one, I will defiantly do this one again.
