Subject: Bike Fit - Newbie QuestionHi!!! This may seem as a really noob question but its always better to ask...
When i got my first real bike last year (Felt Z85 ), the LBS where i bought it helped me with the fitting process, checking my angles at the top of the pedal stroke, at the bottom, etc.
I am really happy with it, even though i some times get lower back pain in races, but i am pretty sure it has more to do from lack of strength and flexibility because i can do longer rides with no problems (did a 100 km ride and i was fine ).
So, my question.. i have been reading about getting a bike fit and then choosing the bike. Also a LBS has a machine for DFU Fitting? Some kind of dynamic fitting, but i dont understand how do they fit you without your bike? or am i getting it wrong and i should first find my exact measurements with one of those fittings and then looking for a bike that can be fitted to those measurements? Can someone comment on the "proper" process of buying a new bike? or is what i did correct going to a LBS and find a bike for my budget and see if it fits?
I ask this because im thinking of buying a new carbon bike or a tri bike and i wanted to know how does a proper fitting work. Also to consider maybe buying used.
Thank you!!! Have a great trainning day! |
