Subject: What to start on first?
My lifelong goal is to finish the longest distance events for running, swimming, and biking in the world. The 3 i have on my list are

Vuelta Sudamericana- 7500 miles biking (stage race)
The Self-Transcendence- 3100 miles running (stage race)
Cayuga Lake- 40 miles swimming

I dont know which one i want to work towards first, or how to train properly for them, like distances and amount of training and such. Any assistance or information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't believe the self transcendence is technically a stage race. Unless you consider running around the block a few thousand times a stage Granted I may be totally wrong.

Run the Self-Transcendence first.
Do the Bike Second.
Swim last.

This is a 5 year old thread, I wonder if the OP has completed any yet?

I would do the opposite of this suggestion.  Swim first, bike second, run last.

Hi Arend.  I've been gone for a few years, and just returned.  I've noticed that quite a few very old threads like this get revived these days.  Is it normal now?

I like your suggestion anyway, although I think I'd do bike, then run, then maybe hope that some horrible injury prevented me from doing the swim.  ;-)

My masochism has made me most infatuated with the one I'm the worst at: swimming. I admit I've become a bit obsessed with the English Channel swim and have been seriously looking into it. (Important factoid: to be an official channel swim you cannot wear a wetsuit, although you can slather yourself with goose fat)
There's also a (much shorter and warmer) Sardinia to Corsica swim which sounds really neat.

In reality of done nothing of true merit. Why not make a stupid act of Victorian fame should be the cap off?

I haven't been around much either but I have seen a few of these.  Maybe from searches, who knows?  Either way, welcome back.    I'm trying to come back a bit more as well.

Because triathlon can become a lifestyle, it can also become very complicated. But, it doesn’t have to.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

This life of mine is not so different from yours. It has a multitude of similarities. I suffer from uncertainty, I get nervous at the thought of registering and when getting to the starting line.

Does it matter how fast you go? Does it matter if you win? No. It only matters that you tri your best and smile when you cross the finish line.
