Just noticed this. I'm doing the Oly but I'll join here.   I signed up on May 1 for the Oly, just in time to get my name on the shirt

Have you made a hotel reservation yet?

I'm in for the Oly, too. I did the sprint 2 years ago and loved it. Started the Oly last year but got a corneal ulcer during the swim and had to drop out on the bike. No hotel reservations, we usually just camp.

I haven't been out there so I don't know the area at all. Andie, the RD, really talks it up and she knows how to put on a race. I'm looking forward to it.

After the Jay Benson I was quizzing Andie (the Santa Rosa RD) about the course for City of Lakes. She said the bike is rolling hills and when I looked at the map I would agree. She also said that she expects the water to be 72-75*. I hadn't expected it that warm. I can do a sprint in a full wetsuit at those temps but for an Oly I'm looking at used sleeveless suits.

Assuming my Sciatic nerve and Achilles behave this week, I'm in for the Oly.

I've never been to Santa Rosa before.... is there anything I should be sure to see? Good restaurants?

Unfortunately my IT band issue has reared its ugly head so I am unable to run 10k. Andie is letting me switch my registration to a team (ugh) so my son will be doing the running leg. I'll be quizzing Andie at packet pickup tonight to learn how teams work.

I've never been there before either but friends say that Blue Hole Lake is the thing to see and I believe that is where the run ends. Unfortunately we'll be getting in late Friday so any site seeing we do will be on Saturday after the race.

"We" are #232. I forgot to look at the starting waves at packet pickup last night so no idea what order everything starts.

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.

I was passing others who were saying, "Good job, 587" (that was my race number). People were cheering me on. These were the nicest people I have ever been around!
