About a year ago, I build a spreadsheet to calculate them all, ran the various tests, and, lo and behold, they all yielded about the same numbers. It appears, in triathlon, there are many ways to get to about the same place.
The major benefit, for me, was the feedback - my easier workouts were easier, and my harder workouts were harder - less time loafing in the zone 3 no-gain zone.
For example, my half marathon effort - high zone 3/low 4 for right at two hours. Minimal loafing in zone 2 or 3. It's a real eye-opener as to how much one can push it.. |
