Run
Comments: Since my last scheduled tri was cancelled due to Hurricane Joaquin, I pushed additional training into this, running four times a week until this last week. So I had high expectations, wanting to definitely PR at the 10K distance. I started slow, I think because the first couple of miles were on an upward grade, gentle but noticeable, but was on track at around 31 minutes at the halfway point, giving me a shot to run a negative split to hit my PR goal. Fell in behind a couple of ladies running a solid 9:30 to 9:45 and stuck with them until we got across the bridge and went to the last water stop for a quick drink. Pushed it from there and made my goal. What would you do differently?: Wish I'd pushed just a little harder and break an hour at this distance. But pleased with result so no complaining. Post race
Warm down: No real warm down. Met up with friends at the end, waited for TSW and her friend, wrapped up in a Mylar blanket over the fleece I'd checked the previous day. What limited your ability to perform faster: My mental state, although I'm pleased with the result and now want better. Event comments: Amazing how organized this event was, particularly given the logistical challenges that shutting down one side of the Bay Bridge must involve. Very organized, awesome, bucket list type event. Would recommend it to anybody. Only complaint I have was the apparently moldy bagels that were handed out in the post-race food bags (they'd stopped putting them in the bags when I finished, but I saw several). Bet you they have that resolved next year. Last updated: 2015-11-09 12:00 AM

Had a small Pom,Peach and Banana smoothie and half a bagel with peanut butter before we got in the car and drove to the parking site.
None. 15-20 minute bus ride to the race start. Used a Porta Potty (they had plenty of those, amazing) then walked to start right as the wave was leaving.
