Dang. That is a great event

My appeal was published on the front page of the local newspaper - but honestly, you can't fault the mayor for what appears to be fairly sound logic.

The fact of the matter is - I think Set Up Events and some other event planners are causing this type of result due to scheduling too many events. I saw an e-mail announcement about a new event at Lake James, and I just think they are expanding too much when participation is dropping. I mean, just going back and looking at the finishing results of something like the popular Buckner Mission Man sprint triathlon in Burlington, the difference in attendance between 2009 and 2015 is huge. In 2015 there were 268 participants, in 2009 there were 449. I mean, that's a huge decline in participation.

I'm really bummed that the triathlons are becoming so diluted, resulting in some events going away altogether. I think it will be unsustainable.

I really have no knowledge here so take what I say with a grain of salt. I think if they can find a way to make the lower attendance races still profitable it would be better. I personally love small races and its one of my main criteria when searching. That being said, this obviously wasn't the case since it was canceled. Sorry it got canceled on you.
