Hi My Name is Derek. 43 yrs old from Queensland Australia. this is my very first forum post of any sort ever!!

2016 is Tri year for me.

Have started with a sprint distance in February. completed in 1hr 28mins. With a good swim but slow slow bike leg. red line heart rate.

Currently training for my first Olympic distance in May.

My main goal is the Noosa Triathlon in October. (Olympic)

Have read heaps of books / internet / magazine articles and have become a bit confused as there is so much varying information.

Go slow/ to go fast / intervals / FTP / endurance etc etc

Anyway have joined this site for training plan and general information (and good times)

Hi Derek, welcome. It's great to see another Aussie on here, there are a few of us around.

If you want somewhere to start with your bike try a search of the forum for George's winter bike plan.

Hi. Im Jorge, in Florida ( USA ). I am 43, as well. I've always talked about doing a triathalon and finally have decided to make it happen. I haven't competed in one yet. I have never joined a site or posted anything so this is new and weird to me. I used to be an athlete and in pretty good shape. After I stopped, I gained a lot of weight and trying to get back to healthy. Would be cool to have people to talk to, going through same thing. Can use all the help and advise I can get. Well, just wanted to introduce myself. Hope to chat

Hello. Training for a sprint. Want to start easy and build. Sometimes hard to train by yourself and keep motivated but I'm plugging along.

While running, I've been really struggling to keep my heart rate down in the zone 2-3 range as frequently prescribed in the plan. This seems too slow?

I had read the articles on BT, I'd trained, and I thought I had prepared. There were, however, a few things that I didn't internalize despite what I'd been told.
