Swim
Comments: One of my best swims ever. We knew the current was fast from a practice swim. In addition, I looked at the maps and the curve of the river meant that you could legally use the width of the river to your advantage by cutting towards the island than then back out. It also put you closer to the river center with a stronger current, so I knew it was a good game plan. I started to second guess myself a few times as I was pretty isolated out there and had no one to draft off. Eventually I hedged my bet a bit and moved over some until I got a small pack and a good set of feet. I picked up the pace and sat on his feet as long as I could. Eventually, he split 2 slow swimmers and by the time I made it around them he was gone. Luckily, it was close enough to the finish that I could keep the pressure on. When I hit the turn buoy and then got onto the steps I couldn't believe my watch said 48:XX! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1

Drove to Chattanooga with K (we drove halfway the first night and then the rest of the way the next morning). We got there and checked in, met up with Jeff and some other friends, got some A.R.T. at the expo and then went back to our house to check in. House was a few miles into the city from the waterfront and a bit on the shady side. Seemed perfectly safe, but not the most upscale neighborhood.
We went to the pre-race dinner with Jeff, Kari, Kevin, Kevin's mom, and Drew, and some others. Great location. Presentation was meh, but food was great and plenty of room.
Day before the race we met up with some people while driving the bike course and did a nice brick. Great to see everyone and everyone was in good spirits.
The night before the race, Barb/Bill/Sis/Mitch all cooked a great dinner. Ernie and Lisa came over and Zephyr and his girlfriend made it to the house. Group all made great shirts and with our bags all packed we were ready to go.
Sis dropped us off at transition with Mitch. Mitch then took the bus with us tot he swim start and waited with us in the long line along the path. What a trooper. It was fun to hang out but his main mission was to text sissy with an exact swim start time so she didn't go insane with the uncertainty of the time trial start. We got a spot somewhere around 6am. and sat there chatting and finding friends that walked by to get in line behind us.
Once the gun went off, K and I hustled up the path in line, gave each other a good luck kiss, waved to Mitch and jumped off the dock to get started.
