Rugged trail. Rocks and roots, all covered with leaves. A fair bit of scrambling over boulders. Tough to ever get in a rhythm

Great small HARD trail race. Very low key, low frills, but this was apparent from the website. Tonos of rocks and roots, all covered with leaves to add to the difficulty. Up and down through the gorge 2 times on the half, along with a good bit of scrambling over boulders. It's billed to be a slow hard course, adn it certainly is that. A lot of fun, though, and 1 I will look at doing again next year.

I just started doing tris this summer and I have two under my belt, both sprints. Is it reasonable to build up for a Oly in early ‘09, with a HIM in Oct of ‘09

I will assume you have not run consistently more than 6 miles and have never completed a half-marathon. I believe running your first half-marathon is a big task which requires dedication and work.
 
This is, after all, Ironman.
