Subject: Looking for a mentor
Hi there,

I am new here and never done a triathlon

I don't know which group to try and join. I am almost 51 over weight and out of shape but I do walk a lot, and swim once or twice a week

I signed up for the Grimsby Women's Tri and I have no idea what I am doing other then I am willing to work hard, lose the weight and finish with some pretty bling around my neck,

Can anyone help me or advise what mentoring group might be best for me

Thank you

Kim

Hi-
I am not familiar with the mentor groups here. What are you doing for a workout plan?

A new group just opened up in the 2017 Mentor Forum...

It's called "Be the Ball" and sounds like a good fit based on age and experience.

Coming off of a tibial stress fracture in 2000, stevebradley made his way into triathlon. Now he has over 60 triathlons completed and is one of the most active mentor groups on BT.

Not only is he a great athlete, he is a great mentor. I have been in his mentor group for the last two rounds and he inspires and encourages our entire group daily.

I have pedals with the cage and when I ride 2+ hours my legs feel much more tired then if I took out my husband's bike with clipless pedals. Do clipless pedals truly make the difference?

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.

I started riding this spring with the Carnac shoes on Look pedals (with plenty of float). About five minutes into a ride I get sharp pain on the outer edge of my feet, just behind the pedal.
