Pro 15655 | Subject: "The Chosen One".... LMAOOOOO I watched the comments live......the President was talking about China as a problem for the U.S. as far as trade went. He said it had been a problem for Clinton, Bush, Obama, and now he had to fix it, he was "The Chosen One". As he said it he loo0ked toward the sky....probably hoping not to get struck by lightning. So, now the left gets to say that President Trump thinks he's God. I can't really say who is funnier, Trump, or the Left.....but I hope it goes on forever. Buy Greenland!!!! |

That's why I've got a bumper sticker that says "Any functioning Adult 2020" I thought Gary Johnson was the most sane in the last election, but that was his last bid for president. There will always be a trade deficit with China, what exactly is the point of this trade war? We can't compete with their insanely cheap labor, so what? This does nothing but hurt consumers of these imports. If we were struggling to create jobs then maybe it would make sense to encourage domestic manufacturing, but unemployment is pretty damn low right now... so what is the purpose of screwing the consumers? |

There are things the US is trying to address that are very real ,for example the protection of intellectual property. But it's unfortunate they "spin" things, and reduce to snippets to please his disciples. Some of the intent was good. The execution and making it a twitter war is....well.....typical I guess. It's not just "jobs" and "deficit" but those appeal to his base. It's equally unfortunate there is no media source that's talking about the real issues rather than mock Trump for what was obvious joke/sarcasm. Edited by marcag 2019-08-23 7:12 AM |

He has balls as big as church bells and is not afraid to call out reporters and networks and bust their chops. No other president has ever done that. I think now that the Russia thing is all but dead he feels emboldened. He is coming up on 3 years and will likely serve out his term. My guess whatever restraint he ever had is gone and he will say and do anything he wants to do. |

But at this point he probably doesn’t care as much. Completing my second Ironman was not as significant as completing my first since I was already an Ironman. He will forever be called Mr President whether he wins a second term or not. Here’s a long shot. Maybe he runs to show he got a second term and then reigns and turns the reins over to Pence. ETA IMNSHO the only way he looses is if a moderate dem enters the race. Now whether or not inflicting mutual pain is going to solve this issue... I seriously doubt it. North Korea constantly pulls even worse crap with ransomware. They hack into American businesses including school systems and hospitals and encrypt their data, then demand a ransom to unlock it which is often paid if they don't have backups. And we turn around and try and be buddies with them despite the weapons development issue with them. There doesn't seem to be any consistency, do you guys really think Trump knows what he's doing? Being bold is one thing, but he just seems foolish. |

As much as I hate gubment meddling, it should be about making it efficient, not getting rid of it. As stupid and impossible as that sounds. |

It looks like us not financing the bulk of China's economy. It looks like some jobs and manufacturing coming back to the U.S. because it's not so damn cheap to go to China. I'm not one of these "gimme something cheap or free" people. I'll gladly pay more for products made in my own country, by our people. I'm sick of cheap Chinese crap......and I'm sick of cheap Chinese knock-offs. I want President Trump to keep doing exactly as he is with regard to China. So, do you think China, with roughly half the economy of the U.S., is not going to give in? Of course they are. Just like Mexico, Canada, and every other country will. Swing the big stick!!! That's what I want. To hell with "Globalism". |

They pay by not having the ability to provide goods so cheaply, that's why Trump (and many other economists) want a new trade deal.....free trade will take care of the rest. That pressure sure isn't going to come from Canada.....it's going to come from the only country that CAN put that pressure on China. |

My point is gubment does need to be involved in negotiating FAIR free trade deals. The latest NAFTA deal is a good deal for all parties. IMO. It is a fair deal. The US was right in putting it's foot down on dairy imports. As for China, I think Trump was on the right track. It was going to be a rough ride but he felt now was the best time due to the perception of a strong economy that would last and ease the impact. Because there is an impact. If the economy softens, and all signs are there, the hurt may go up and concessions will be made. |

Pro 15655 | Subject: RE: "The Chosen One".... I gotcha now, thanks. I don't think the economy is softening, but to be sure, lots of profits are being taken by owners/shareholders. Be careful which numbers you watch and where they come from. The Liberals in this country will say ANYTHING, to include lying, to make President Trump look bad. All they care about is getting rid of him......nothing else matters, even the truth. If a trade deal is reached with China this economy will be a damn rocket ship. |

Champion 10157 Alabama | Subject: RE: "The Chosen One".... I keep hearing the media talking heads say if we don’t get a trade deal or if we have a recession Trumps base will abandon him. They still don’t get it. The idea that his base is going to abandon the man who tried to address foreign trade and who lowered taxes and who worked like hail on illegal immigration and suddenly decide “to heck with it, I’m voting for a socialist” is ridiculous. Did he complete the border wall like his base wanted? No. Does that mean his base is now going to vote for open borders? Not a chance. |

Champion 10157 Alabama | Subject: RE: "The Chosen One".... I read an ‘analysis’ of Trump recently and they suggested Trump’s unpredictability was his greatest asset. It served him well in real estate deals and is serving him well in politics and in foreign relations and trade deals. IOWs, you never know what the crazy sob is gonna do next. I suspect China wants a deal to avoid Trump’s one-upmenship next move. |
