Since I know this isn't ST, I figured I'd get some opinions from the gang.  Worse case, I'll get some mild ribbing and I can handle that. 

OK...I think I've officially gone off the deep end!!  I actually responded to this e-mail that was forwarded from one of the local running groups.

"Carlyn Davis Casting is currently casting a National Print Campaign for New Balance.

We will be casting one male and one female, any race, ages 30-50. The runners that are chosen for this campaign will be featured in National running magazines and will be given lots of sports wear and $1000 for the day of the shoot.

The shoot will be here locally between October 4-October 7th.

We are looking for REAL, hard core runners. Great physique. We will need to know how often and much you run a week, how many marathons you have been in, etc.

We are looking for interesting types.

The woman MUST wear a size 7 shoe and the men MUST wear a size 9.5.

If you or anyone you know is interested in such National attention, please email [email protected] before Monday Sept. 25th.

I sent a couple of pictures too.  Well, I got a call in about 1.5 hrs after I sent the e-mail and they want me to come in for an Audition.  It basically consists of a head shot, body shot and a 15 - 20 second video of me running.  The problem is that it's in Falls Church.  That's about 3 hrs away.  I had already planned on taking tomorrow off, but I was going to work on the upstairs bathroom.  I don't know weather I'm nervous or what, but I'm not sure.  The reality of it is that I don't think I would get it (for MANY reasons) and it would be a 6 hr total trip for like 15 min of an Audition.

Must contemplate...

Once in a lifetime opportunity, it'll be fun! You can say that once in your life you auditioned and had pictures taken to model for a national athletic company. How awesome is that?!

GO FOR IT!!! Be yourself and HAVE FUN. Make sure you wear your hottest running gear.  How excited is your wife??

umm...

$1000 seems cheap for a national print campaign. If you get it, and I do think you could get it, see if you can up the fee. If they want to use you, they'll be willing to pay more.

Also, see if you can put a time limit on the use. For example, three months or six months. Then if they want to run it longer, negotiate for another fee. The one thing you don't want to do is sign over unlimited rights for perpetual use. Who knows, it could become a signature campaign that could run for years.

And if they want you, they will be willing to pay more.

But yea, go for it.

Wow...I wish I looked like that....I was contacted by a friend in the SF bay area for casting of a similar variety.  Hard core bikers and/or triathletes.  I just laughed.  Besides the extra insulation I have...there is also the pelt of fur that seems to cover my chest.

But I have to say, why are they limiting the sizes to a 7 women and a 9.5 men? That perplexes me. Are there that many women out there with feet that small? I almost can wear the men's 9.5... but I do have flippers for feet...

Runner's physique for sure!  I'd say GO, but bring some running shorts too.  Tri shorts make you look like... well, a triathlete.

 Then again, being a triathlete may qualify you as an interesting type of character to pure runners.

Yes they do, they are available HERE

I highly doubt you'll be able to wear any other logos in the ad. They are going to have stuff for you to wear.

Thanks...It means a lot spiritually....but physically...not too much...But it does mean that I get a lot of attention from a certain group of gay men!
