finding auto insurance info????

I was hit by a A$$hole (long story, but he was one), about a week ago.  He had a brand new car, paper tags, no insurance info although he said he was insured.

He gave me cal drivers license number, name, address and phone (which are correct).  He said he would make it right, and I spoke to him on the phone twice, he said he'd pay for it, but of course won't answer my calls anymore, nor talk to my insurance company.

My insurance says I'm on the $500 deductible hook unless he's uninsured or his insurance company takes responsibility.

Any way to track down insurance info with the info I have?

I have resported to paging him every 15 minutes, late night telephone calls will be next.
