Run
Comments: This was my first event. I was going to run my first 5k a couple months ago and managed to sprain my ankle the day before the event. I decided on a whim to do this one...didn't know if my ankle was ready. I was really glad my friend Beth came to run with me...made it go much easier. The cannon start made us jump, but we headed off at a slow trot and kept that up the entire way. Got passed by a ton of people, but I expected that. My main goal was not to be last and not to be passed by the people running the 10k, which was starting 1/2 hour after the 2 mile started. Since it was a run/walk, I didn't have to worry about being last. I'm pleased to say my ankle held up and I made it the whole 2 miles with out dying and without stopping to walk. What would you do differently?: This was my first ever event. I'm just proud of myself for not stopping to walk. My "run" may be really slow, but I did it. Post race
Warm down: Went back up to the gymnasium for juice and a banana, stretched out on the floor. What limited your ability to perform faster: 1)The fact that I'm not fast 2)At the end of recovery for a sprained ankle. Event comments: This was fun. There are a ton of people who do this...I'm planning on it for next year, too. Last updated: 2006-11-24 12:00 AM
