Getting married during a race

They posted a "challenge" to people to get married during the marathon in Vegas ... it's on their website ... you were NOT hallucinating!

Your eyes did not deceive you... they had a "run thru" wedding chapel. Not sure how many people got hitched though.

And congrats on your run! It was a chilly start. How was Blue Man?

I didn't pay too much attention to the website besides signing up and getting married didn't apply. I was disappointed in their pre-race organization and only having two books to look up bib numbers if you forgot it.


Plus I saw so many Elvis's I thought I was hallucinating

It was okay, but the general group was so far behind them that you saw them for 30 seconds and more of concentrating on starting. The fireworks were good though.

Gosh, sorry. I was reading a RR and thought I might like to do the race next year, so I checked out their site. Elvises and Showgirls were invited to run in persona, too. There was other stuff but I'm kinda scared to mention it here now.

It was a skinny Elvis- just some burning love, rather than a hunka, hunka burning love.

I guess there were 70 Elvi and 24 people got married or renewed their vows. Hopefully next year they'll figure out where to put the mile markers.

Friends of mine got married on the 4th of July last year before a 4th of July 5K race. The entire race attended prior to the start. He wore a tux t-shirt, and she wore a veil and carried a bouquet for the race. he waited for her at the finish line, picked her up and carried her over.

I remember that piece!!! So cute.

The first year my sorority volunteered for the Columbus Marathon, we were wheelchair runners. So this guy crosses the line, and he sees our letters. Turns out he's an Otterbein alum who was in one of our fraternities. Well, he and his buddy were chatting back and forth, obviously looking for *someone*. And I hear them going, "are you ready?" etc etc. So this woman crosses the line, and he gets down on one knee and asks her to marry him! Of course she said yes . First proposal I've ever seen up close and personal.

Last year we were at mile 13 I think of the LV marathon there was a girl with her vail and flowers running. She was alone so we asked her where her new husband was. Well he ran ahead and left her. We thought maybe she left him at the alter or maybe she was trying to catch him because he did that to her. I ran into another couple that renewed there vows and they stuck together for the whole race.

I ask my friend if she married her BF during the LV marathon if I could be the best pacer. She is not ever going to get married again so no such luck.
