okay, who got a nano in their stocking?

for january, let's do another distance challenge, fastest 5k, and fastest 10k. if there is anyone who would like to do a beginner's challenge for the distance challenge, let me know. 'beginner' would be anyone who has been running for less than a year. folks who have been running for more than one year would then be invited to the BT intermediate/expert distance challege. for january, i will only split up the group for distance to see how it goes, with the possibility of doing beginner and intermediate/expert groups for the 5k and 10k come february.

if you would like to be added to the january challenge, please PM me you email address and/or your nike+ username.

here is the list i have now (w/ the username from your email). if you are not on this list, please PM me:

thanks to everyone who pm'ed me already. if other folks want to participate, its not too late. the new challenge will start on january 1st. i will probably set the challenges up in the next couple days, so watch your email inbox! you will get an email from nike+ saying 'you have been challenged!' all you have to do is accept the challenge and you're in. i will probably send all the challenges to everyone, so pick either beginner or intermediate/advanced, depending on which you want to do.

my mom got a nano and a nike+ for xmas. i'm at her house now hoping to give her the full tutorial so that maybe, just maybe, she can join one of these challenges too!

one other minor glitch - since i'm setting up the challenges, i can't decline being in any of them. SO, that means i'd have to be in both the beginners' distance AND the int/advanced, if i am the one setting them up. that doesn't seem right, so for now i cancelled the beginners' challenge i set up. is there anyone who was planning on being in the beginners' challenge who would like to set it up? i can send you the user names and walk you through the process, if need be. just reply here, or PM me. thanks!!!!

I would love to be added for the January challenges. I came home for college for two weeks and forgot my nano, so i havent been able to log any miles since the 15th of Dec. Oh well, i get it back on the 2nd so the milage can start again. Thanks for setting these up every month, they really keep me motivated to run.

Nevermind, i just checked my email and saw that you already added me, thanks!

I'm in. Just so everyone knows though, my nike runs are actually just walks at the moment while I try to heal up some tenodonitis. I do run faster than a 14 minute mile

Well, this explains what happened to the beginner's challenge!  I haven't been able to log into BT, so I couldn't figure out why I couldn't accept the challenge, but now I know.  Does anyone else want to join such a challenge?  I'd be happy to set it up--just let me know.

I think I just joined the beginners challenge- since I managed NOT TO RUN ONCE last month, and fear overtraining and new year's zealousness, I am calling myself a beginner, aiming to run 10 times in 4 weeks. No idea how that translates into any of the real challenges, but I am aiming for 25ish miles of run/walk.

Anyone have problems logging into nike+ to look at the challenges? My nike+ site has not been operating normally lately. Now I cannot access the challenges at all... where do I stand now? This is annoying....

The system seems to be overwhelmed.  The data is there, but it's catch-as-catch-can to actually see it.  I'm having better luck later at night.  I suspect that as the Resolutionists fall out, it will be easier to deal with, but, yeah, right now it's REALLY annoying.

I've heard that the nike+ website is back up, but it still wont let me acess my goals or challenges. When i click on either of them it just brings up the screen that asks if you want to create a goal or challenge. it also wont let me upload my last run. anyone else still having these problems?

I have to hit REFRESH several times in each section to get it to show my stuff. I'm not sure why, sometimes it even says I'm not logged in, but then I hit reload and voila, my runs appear. I use Mozilla Firefox on a pc, if that's any help.

I'm liking this thingy!

I've been having the same problem, it will show me one challenge but not the others, and sometimes none at all. Hopefully it will get better soon, it's too annoying right now.

I can't get mine to load either, but I ran a marathon yesterday and my nano died at mile 16, so I lost 10.2 miles of data.

Anyone else having trouble with battery life and the new attachments? I didn't seem to have battery issues until the nike+.

Nike+ website seems to be working again.  I was just able to cycle through all my challenges and goals--twice!--without getting any generic messages.

Now, if someone would be so kind as to post some miles to my account . . .

I know that the type of batteries that are used on ipods can be overcharged if you leave them plugged in too long and that can shorten battery life. also the apple website has some battery calibration programs for their laptops, i dont know if they have them for ipods but you might want to search the website cause calibrating it can extend the battery life. if it keeps up i'd take it back to apple and try to get a new one. hope that helps a little. too bad about those 10.2 miles. good luck.
