I had the fortune to meet the president of Griffen bikes several months back.  On a lark, I e-mailed them to ask about the possibility of a factory tour.

They are located in Decateur - about 45min north of Ft. Worth.  It's going to be this coming Saturday 2/3 at 10:00am.  If you are interested in coming, just let me know so I can give them an idea of headcount.

They make some awesome bikes.  It should be a pretty cool thing to see.

Derek and I should be both be off, so we're in!

Wish we were guaranteed warmer weather.  Lake Ray Roberts isn't that far away to practice OWS.

Oops. Nevermind.  It's about 40 miles away.

COOL, I am a maybe.  I need to check my schedule for the coming week to see if I can fit it in, but I think I will be able to.  I will let you know by Teusday.  This sounds sweet!

Would they get irritated if I kept saying, "That's not how it's like on my Cervelo."?

I am going to try and make it...they just changed our oncall schedule. I am going to try to sucker someone in to taking during that time.

I am a sucker for bike goodies, and my wife feels that 5 bikes in the garage is quite enough. In the spirit of staying married ... count me out.

If Griffin's factory is in Texas, that might make them much more of a contender for my business next January when I buy a true tri bike.  I would love to go on this tour, but it seems like there are a lot of people who want to go.  If there is room, count me in.  If there is a limit on how many can go, let me know and I'll stay home.

We were told that there really is no limit to the size of the group, so feel free to join us.  The factory moved from southern(I think) California late last year, to North Texas.

I love Griffens!  The bikes look so cool (esp. with the custom paint) and the boron carbon is insane (former aircraft material from the cold war).  Be sure to take lots of pictures for us unfortunate souls who can go along.

I can not make it as I will hitting the slopes in Park City. Should I wear my HR monitor to track my time in the different zones? Please ask them if it would be OK if another group came up at a later date. If another group wanted to go, I would propose that everyone bring their bikes and go for a ride after the tour. There should be some nice open roads in that area.

Could a BT discount be in the offering sometime in the future?

It looks like there will be quite a few of us going, and positive reviews of their bikes and facilities could be some of the cheapest advertising they could get.  It might be worth a discount to move some bikes.

Ron, Marma, any thoughts??

OH...had to be a change of plans.  The Owner's wife passed away 2 weeks ago.  I met her too and she was a really nice woman.  Anywy, the memorial service for her is Saturday.  He was very apologetic, which made me feel bad since his wife just passed.

He asked of we could reschedule for March 3rd at 10:00.  So, that's the new date.  Sorry for the inconvenience but they are really looking forward to us touring the factory.
