Champion 8903     |  Subject: MPG of your primary vehicleThe vehicle that you drive every day. And don't lie. If you drive a GMC Yukon and it gets 13 mpg, admit it. Trying to come up with a solution to rising gas prices while many of us throw stones inside the glass house is just being facetious. So come clean. Combined everyday mileage too...city/highway, not just what you get on the interstate while driving to grandma's.

I am just trying to do research on how easy / hard it would be to find vegetable oil on a regular weekly basis. If I find that it is do-able then I am in in 7 months. I think I'll get a Toyota Hybrid Highlander for my next car. Not the best MPG but a lot better than the explorer. I feel safer in a bigger car. How much is safety worth??? |

It's paid for, which unfortunately completely trumps the fact that I wish it was a hybrid or at least a lot more efficient. For the record, the reason I inherited it was because I was doing Search and Rescue at the time and was a dog handler with two dog crates in the back. It has indeed been off-road... alot. |

On a typical fill-up (which is about 40% highway driving), I am at 31 mpg....yes, I am a dork who resets the trip meter at each fill up and does the math to figure it out  . |

I put $20 in the gas tank, and the red light stayed on. So, this week, I started Biking to work - 25 miles in, and 25 miles home. Kicker is the 25 miles home starts at 10:30 at night. I think, doing that 3 days a week, I can save about $300 a month in gas, and help my cycling engine. |

| Champion 8903 | Subject: RE: MPG of your primary vehicle My Hyundai Elantra gets around 35 on the highway and I'm averaging about 31 in a combination city/highway. It has the little computer on the odometer that keeps track of your mileage. I love resetting it to "zero" right after a fill up, then coasting down ladder back hill with the engine idling and for a few brief moments watching the thing register 75 mpg!!
