Subject: Need some resources on knee pain ...
Long story short, I am getting pain underneath my knee cap. I've been doing some reading, but I'm having trouble finding resources that clearly define the effects of support in shoes on the knees and ankles. I know there needs to be some clear cut explanations.

I'm heading to the running shop, with two week old shoes (purchased from them) and my old running shoes in hand, at lunchtime today.

I think what I am experiencing is just overuse and understrength in my quads, but I don't know that to be true yet.

If you have any favorite knee links, please post them. I need to do some reading. Diagrams are great too!

TIA

Good chance it's patellofemoral pain syndrome. Here's a good link:

Well, are you sure the pain is from running? It could be because of your bike.

Good link, thanks. It confirms a lot of what I've been reading and thinking.

I can ride without any pain whatsoever. I've taken a week off of running so far. Its been gradually feeling better. This morning I tried to do a super light jog and it was flaring up within a quarter mile. This was after I had walked a while to warm it up.

I totally agree. I have had chronic Patella Tendonitus from running and this season Ive only had 1 flare up. It ended up being because my saddle was a bit too high and I was stetching my leg and toes on the down motion. New running sneakers would not hurt either.

Thanks for the input.

If anything, I think I ride a little "flat footed". I am a relatively new road/tri rider, but I really don't think that's the cause.

I got a new pair of shoes just as this was starting to hurt. At first, it went away within a day. Not anymore. Like I said earlier, its been a week. I'm guessing that they are not as supportive in the arch as my previous pair.

Also, I may have been ramping up my distances too fast, with quads that could use some strengthening.
